The 2006 Craft & Hobby Association Attitude & Usage Study shows that the U.S. craft and hobby industry achieved $30.2 billion in annual retail sales, with 57 percent of U.S. households (62 million) participating in crafts last year. Annual average spending per household is $476.

The Craft & Hobby Association (CHA) reported today that 7,457 buyers attended the Winter show in Anaheim last month. That’s up from 7,070 in Las Vegas last year. Jo-Ann’s Announces Year-End Results

For the fiscal year ended February 3, same-store sales decreased 5.9 percent. Net sales dropped from $1.883 billion to $1.851 billion, a 1.7 percent decline. Though there was an extra week in the fiscal year, same-store sales were based on a comparable 52-week basis.

Hancock to Close 30 Stores

Hancock Fabrics has announced it will close 30 stores, representing approximately $18 million in annualized sales. Approximately half the 30 stores have leases that expire in 2007 or 2008, while others have lease commitments expiring between 2009 and 2015.
