CHA Releases Show Numbers

Buyer attendance at the Craft & Hobby Association (CHA) summer show July 18-20, was down 7 percent from last year. Overall attendance was down 6 percent. CHA reported today that 7,166 “craft and hobby industry professionals” attended the show. There were 348 exhibitors, including 80 new ones. Companies Craftrends talked to were pleased with the outcome of the show.
During the show’s opening ceremony on July 18, CHA presented the CHA CEO Special Recognition Award to Karen Ancona who served more than 20 years as the editor of Craft & Needlework Age Magazine and who served on numerous association committees. Ancona is now retired.
CHA also announced winners of its “Best of the Industry” awards from the summer show. Innovations Showcase awards were presented in four product categories, plus a Best of Show. Winners are:
Art Materials & Framing, Paverpol USA, non-toxic, environmentally friendly textile hardener
Fabric/Quilting/Needlecrafts, Clover Needlecraft, Jumbo “Quick” Yo-Yo Maker
General Crafts, Duncan Enterprises, Crafty Chica Products by Kathy Cano-Murillo
Scrapbooking & Paper Crafts, Fiskars, Push and Print Stamp Factory
Exhibiting with Excellence Awards were presented to:

Fabric/Quilting/Needlecraft, Ribbons House
General Crafts, FloraCraft
Scrapbooking & Paper Crafts, Graphic 45
Press kit awards went to Ellison/Sizzix (first place), Piggy Tales (second place), Anna Griffin (third place), and Sara Hodsdon (designer press kit award).
