CHA Stats & News

The Craft & Hobby Association (CHA) Winter show in Anaheim earlier this month drew 5,754 buyers from more than 62 countries. Total attendance was over 14,820, approximately 9 percent less than last year. CHA reports that despite the drop in attendance, this year’s show was the second best attended show in CHA history.

According to CHA, the attendance figures reflect a new reporting methodology initiated last year. The association now reports three categories of actual attendees: exhibitor personnel, buyers, and business networkers, a new category that includes attendees that, while not buying or exhibiting, contribute to the business done at the show. This year there were 1,528 business networkers that included designers, non-exhibiting manufacturers, manufacturer’s reps, teachers, publishers, service providers, and 299 members of the press.

CHA also introduced six new members to its board of directors: Elizabeth Boyle (Treasury of Memories), Mark Peters (Duncan Enterprises), Linda Augsburg (Kalmbach Publishing), Michael Birkholm (Darice), Joe McCabe (DMC Corp.), and Sara Naumann (Hot Off The Press).

Also, members of the 2008 Nominating Committee were announced. Member representatives are Beth Mauro (F&W Publications), Pam Riddell (The Riddell Group), Ed Rogala (Midwest Products), and alternates Ryann Juden (Piggy Tales) and Mark Ripper (Helmar Australia). Board members on the committee are Bob Ferguson (Ferguson Merchandising), chair, Larry Olliges (Dee’s Crafts), Maureen Ruth (Creative Marketing Solutions), and alternates Craig Curtis (Petersen-Arne) and Joe McCabe (DMC).
