Hobby Manufacturers News

 The Hobby Manufacturers Association (HMA) Education Committee is planning its inaugural Hobby University education program for hobby dealers to be held at the iHobby Expo October 16-19. Classes will focus on what it takes to grow a hobby store and to motivate and train current and new employees. Courses and university instructors will be listed in the registration brochure to be mailed and online in July. HMA also announced findings of its 2007 Size of the U.S. Model Hobby Industry Study. Manufacturer product sales for 2007 are estimated to be $1.274 billion and 2006 actual sales were $1.192 billion. Estimated sales in each segment are: Plastic & Die Cast, $259.1 million; Model Railroad, $409.5 million; Radio Control, $357.9 million; and General Hobbies, $247.6 million.
